The Importance of Reading.
-----
You know what I love reading? Away messages. They're like fortune cookies..little tidbits of wisdom, or humour that people write. Some are literal : "Doing laundry - brb" while others are literary quotes or the occasional Chuck Norris reference, or a song verse.
I guess I like them because it offers me a glimpse into the mind of who I'd rather be talking to, than reading about.
i have one that I use that goes : "Epipsychidion...look it up." And sure enough, I get three messages in response.
" I don't get it."
" I don't understand."
"Is that even a word?"
To all queries, I answered, "And I'm guessing you missed the part that went, 'Look it up?' "
"LOL" is the response I get.
The first replies again and says, " I'm just going to puzzle this out for a minute."
Me : "You know, you *could* just Google it. It'd take literally two seconds."
"No, I'd rather figure it out."
Me : "It's not a play on words like "epidermis" and "epididymis" ( did I even spell that right?!)"
"Hmmm, maybe I'll work it out when I'm not so tired."
Me : /headdesk

Jump-cut to me repeating /headdesk until I've rendered myself unconscious.
I need new surroundings.

I really should just get a movie blog up and running...
...because I need to rave about the wonderful Luc Besson. Writer/director of The Big Blue, Subway, The Fifth Element, La Femme Nikita ( the movie, not the series)...and of course, the incredible beyond words greatness and beauty of Leon ..which is known as The Professional in the US.
Leon had been on my Must See List of films for a long time now, so I bought the 2 disc edition because I'm a geek for added features and little glimpses behind films...and was promptly blown away ...
This means I now have a growing respect for French filmmaking, and for the AMAZING Jean Reno..who I do remember quite fondly as Vincent from Ronin, alongside Robert De Niro, and as Krieger from Mission: Impossible.
Yeah, that about settles it. Movie blog will be forthcoming! New computer on the way....my own computer (sweet!), so I will have much more time and much more to write. Still plugging on through the admissions crap for Kwantlen and SFU. Of course now I'm torn even more, wanting to pursue Criminology for the immediate benefits of the jobs I could get, and a filmmaking course of some sort, because I adore movies beyond any other art form save for graphic novels. Who knows, I could just go for broke and do it all.

If I had a million dollars...
I'd buy a wee island in the sun, burn all my socks, drink a hell of a lot more, jam to tons of great music, and generally LIVE.
...or maybe I'll settle for a stereo, six palm trees, a bitchload of sand, and some hammocks. And liquor. Dear gods, so much liquor.
And if you can't stand the Eighties or the sheer amount of music I will play, I'll still give you a drink. And some earplugs. Because I play that shit LOUD.

I've done nothing but work, draw, and draw some more and read ONE book over and OVER for two weeks straight.
I've been thinking that if I'd read Rodriguez's bio, Rebel Without a Crew while making that student film in high school, perhaps it wouldn't have been the collossal mistake and embarrassment that I deem it as? All I know is that book has filled me with more motivation to do what I want creatively, without having to think that I have to grab hold of a miracle to do it.
It floored me, as now there's the advantage of YouTube for short films....and I can do a short comic in ten minutes....
:-D
Here I go, then....

...makes me remember why I love Tarantino, Rodriguez, AND Kurt Russell.
So I'm TOTALLY seeing the movie again on Monday.

Even though I've seen them before, it's new every time. I love it!
Blade Runner
The Matrix
Broken Saints
-- all related in SOME way, to PKD. Creepy and cool...
Time spent fighting the flu, yet expanding the mind. And no, no drugs were consumed at all.

I forgot to change my clock to Daylight Savings, slept in two hours, was late for work, ended being given easiest job EVER at my weekend job - : running around getting wire for machines and spotwelding...
Then I went out for a steak dinner, had some kahlua ice cream cake, and saw '300'. If anyone needs any more proof that Frank Miller on the big screen is fucking golden, GO SEE IT.
Seriously...what are you waiting for?!

Nostalgia of the Moment : the Avs/Red Wings rivalry. I've been watching clips on YouTube for an HOUR. Makes me smile :-) And it takes away the hurt of seeing the words "Red Wings" and "Todd Bertuzzi" in association...

There is a beginning, there is never beginning to have a beginning, there is never beginning to never begin to have a beginning. There is existence, there is nonexistence. There is never beginning the existence of nonexistence, there is never beginning never beginning the existence of nonexistence. Suddenly there are existence and nonexistence, but we don't know if existence or nonexistence actually exist or not. Now I have said something, but I don't know if what I have said actually says anything or not.
